In December 2013, BlackBerry CEO John Chen announced that it would team up with China’s Foxconn to build budget phones.
The first smartphone from Foxconn with BlackBerry branding is expected to be a 3G phone based on BlackBerry 10.

BlackBerry teams up with Foxconn for budget BB10 phones by April 2014

Under the collaboration deal, Foxconn will design and manufacture the handsets. It should generate revenue from the sale of the devices
and also help free up BlackBerry's in-house designers to work on "very high-end" devices aimed at developed markets.
The phone will be first launched in Indonesia, followed by some six or seven markets later. Foxconn would handle manufacturing and inventory,
with BlackBerry in charge of the branding, distribution, sales and marketing. It is a win-win situation for BlackBerry, one that should see the
manufacturer gaining some traction in this segment.
It would not be difficult for BlackBerry to market the device, considering the popularity it has among the users in the country. Indian users
wanted a low-end touchscreen BlackBerry mobile phone since long, and such a device could in theory at least challenge budget Android
handsets in the country. It should be interesting to see the hardware it will feature, considering that it would cost under $200.

Giants like Motorola are also targeting emerging asian markets with low-cost value for money mobile phones such as the Moto G,
which will soon be available globally.
