Android One smartphones launched by Google

Google has finally launched the first set of Android One smartphones saying that the move is part of a "larger initiative to bring high-quality smartphones to as many people as possible", in collaboration with three Indian vendors - Spice, Karbonn and Micromax by the names:

  • Spice Dream Uno Mi-498
  • Karbonn Sparkle V
  • Micromax Canvas One

There is not much difference in internals and processor of phones but their is definitely a change in look and feel of smartphones.
All three smartphones bear similar features and hardware specifications as follows:

  • They support Android 4.4.4 (KitKat) operating system with guaranteed updates.
  • They will also come with few non-removable preloaded apps which includes Amazon, Hike, M!Live, and AskMe.
  • 4.5 inches LCD touch-screen display with resolution of 480x854 pixels.
  • 1.3 GHz quad-core processor (MediaTek 6582) , Mali-400MP graphics and 1 GB RAM.
  • 4 GB internal memory,with an expandable memory option upto 32 GB using micro SD card.
  • 5 MP rear camera with LED Flash and 2 MP secondary camera.
  • Dual-SIM connectivity
  • Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n connectivity, 3G, Bluetooth 4.0 and a 1700 mAh battery.

While India is the first country to receive Android One, Google has announced that the initiative will be rolled out to several South-East Asian countries by the end of the year. International handset vendors like Alcatel, Asus, HTC and others will also offer Android One devices.
Google also announced that Airtel is offering a promotion to reduce data costs for those who buy Android One phones. With an Airtel SIM card, Android One users will get free data first six months. The Karbonn Sparkle V will be available in Magnum Blue, Mild Grey, Wild Red and Pearl White colour variants exclusively via Snapdeal at Rs. 6,399, and the Spice Dream Uno will be available in Black and White colour variants exclusively via at Flipkart at Rs. 6,299. The Micromax Canvas A1 will be available in Black and White colour variants exclusively via Amazon, priced at Rs. 6,499. The smartphones will available in physical reatil store by end of this month.
